Crunchy and Salty, and Good for You Too

Good Bean
There are two things that clients say they MUST have. One is something sweet. The other is something crunchy and salty. Usually that means chips or popcorn. Those are ok occasionally, but they still fall into the empty calorie category. I like to think of meal planning like budgeting (though I am much better at meal planning!); and if you have a caloric allotment to spend, you want to get the most bang for your buck. Therefore, I would like crunchy and salty to be good for you too. Thus, I present to you, The Good Bean.

The Good Bean makes crispy and crunchy chickpea snacks. I purchased them at Costco. Get this, only 3 ingredients: roasted chickpeas, safflower or sunflower oil, and seas salt. And check out the nutrition facts:

  • Calories per serving 120
  • Protein 5 gm
  • Fat 4 gm (0 saturated)
  • Carbohydrate 18 gm
  • Fiber 5 gm

Chickpeas are also nutrient rich and a good source of folate, iron, magnesium, potassium, calcium, phosphorus, selenium, copper, zinc and manganese. All of this makes them nearly a perfect food!

Yes, crunchy and salty is good; and now it can be good for you too!
